Summer in the Outback might bring the warmer temperatures, but spring, autumn, and winter are when things really heat up! From running races to cheering on athletes to celebrating culture through music and art, there is always an event on that will bring locals and visitors together in the NT for a celebration.


Alice Springs Masters Games (Alice Springs)

The ‘Friendly Games’ encourage healthy active participation and the opportunity to visit the unique Central Australia. The Games have been a part of NT history since 1986 with events in archery, boxing, go-karting, netball, swimming, tennis, tenpin bowling, and so much more.

Blacken Open Air Festival (Alice Springs)

For two days, the Red Centre hosts the country’s premiere heavy music festival. Thrashing rock and punk metal shake up the Outback as more than 20 acts take the stage and rock The NT.

Easter in the Alice MTB Muster (Alice Springs)

For three days in three stages, the Easter in the Alice mountain bike race challenges riders from all over Australia. Riders must be over the age of 15 to participate or accompanied by an adult. The entire family-friendly event includes BBQ, art workshops, and a kids Easter egg hunt, along with a variety of other activities.

Mitchell Street Mile (Darwin)

The Mitchell Street Mile turns Darwin's CBD into a running track and cycling race track once a year. There are $60,000 in prizes and a bonus of $1 million for anyone who can break current world records.

Uluru Camel Cup (Uluru)

The Uluru Camel Cup is a fun filled weekend of activities where you can experience a true Aussie outback style event. Join the locals with boot scooting, live entertainment and the opportunity to syndicate bid on your favourite camel ahead of Saturday's award wining Uluru Camel Cup races. If you're keen to get the full experience, join a sunrise or sunset camel tour for spectacular views of Uluru and Kata Tjuta.

Wide Open Space Festival (Alice Springs)

This music, art, and desert culture festival is held at the Ross River Resort in the ancient East MacDonnell Ranges. The sounds of hip hop, desert reggae performers, DJs, and everything in between fill the air alongside programs dedicated to mind-body love, yoga, and dance and so much more.  

Barrett Drive Mile (Alice Springs)

Walk, run, or cycle your way through the Barrett Drive Mile. An event to promote healthy living among the Alice Springs Community, the Barrett Drive Mile welcomes locals and visitors of all ages and abilities to participate.

Hottest 7s in the World (Darwin)

The premier event for Australian Rugby Sevens, the Hottest 7s in the World has become a high profile event, bringing in teams from New Zealand, Fiji, Japan, Kenya, South Africa, and other countries. This annual event will see its' 30th anniversary in 2019.
