Palm Tree in Patong, Phuket

Of all of Thailand’s picturesque destinations, Phuket is one of the very best when it comes to offering family-friendly beach resorts. With all budgets and amenities in mind, Phuket’s array of hotels and resorts ensures that your family holiday will happen effortlessly, no matter what season. Here’s our suggested 7 day itinerary for the ultimate family experience in Phuket.

Day 1: Welcome to Phuket

Make the most of your first day on this incredible island with a feast that says “welcome to Thailand!” One of the most integral parts of Thai cuisine is fresh seafood and seafood barbecue. Dine beachside and let the wave of relaxation wash over the whole family.

Day 2: Go Local

Immerse yourselves in the Thai culture as you peruse locally-produced handicrafts. From street markets to shopping malls to the floating market, the opportunities to collect souvenirs or stock up on beach essentials are practically endless.

After a shopping session, take the family to the Phuket Elephant Sanctuary. This is an ethical elephant experience in Phuket, where these magical animals are rescued. The children will learn about ethical treatment of animals as they get the once-in-a-lifetime chance to ‘meet’ the elephants up close.

Day 3: Day trip - Koh Phi Phi

An hour boat ride from Phuket, Koh Phi Phi is the name for a small archipelago in Krabi Province. The islands have earned the name “'jewels of the Andaman Sea.” Take a long-tail boat around the islands or jump into the ocean for some of the best diving and snorkelling in this part of the world.

Note: Maya Bay, the beach made super-famous in The Beach, will be closed June-September 2018 due to environmental protection. This can be a learning moment for children; Thailand has joined a global initiative to clean the oceans, protect reefs, and more.

Day 4: Back to the beach

Get the children acclimated to water activity with great instruction at any of the major beaches. Diving, sailing, and windsurfing equipment for the whole family will be available for hire at Patong beach, Kata beach, Karon beach, Nai Han beach, Mai Khao beach, and Nai Yang beach.

Day 5: Adventure day

The whole family can get a dose of thrills today. Bring your swimmers for Splash Jungle Water Park, get ready to fly on the ziplines at Flying Hanuman, or trick your imagination at the upside down house at Baan Teelanka. No matter how much adventure everyone feels ready for, there is the perfect activity for the entire family to enjoy. Then head back to your resort to re-enter relaxation mode.

Day 6: Picturesque Phuket

Spend the day staying ‘local’ at your resort or hotel. A few dips in the pool, a healthy amount of sunbaking, and even a poolside meal will put the perfect cherry on top of the holiday. But it’s not over yet - watch the mesmerising sunset over Laem Phromthep Viewpoint or over any of the magnificent beaches.

Day 7: Departure

Say goodbye to one of the most stunning locales on the planet. Cherish the memories you made as a family… and vow to return again soon!
