If you needed any excuse to book a trip for May, we have a good one: it’s the cheapest month to travel from Australia.
Through research conducted by our friends at Skyscanner, we have learned that there are a couple of reasons that this is the lucky month.
“May is considered an off-season month for travel as it sits between April, June and July, which are popular months to travel due to long weekends (Easter weekend and Queen's Birthday in most states) and the Winter school holidays. May is also void of any public holidays to leverage, unless you live in Queensland.”
As a result of its position in off-season, airfares in May are often cheaper than the rest of the year.
“Off-season months are usually the cheapest times to travel, as they are affected by airline capacity and travel demand. The benefit of travelling during this time is that airlines will release great flight deals to ensure planes are filled.”
So one question remains: where are you travelling to next?
