Aloha Apprentice lei greeting web

On 25 May, 2018, Hawaii Tourism’s newly-appointed Aloha Apprentice lands in Sydney’s Martin Place to wish Sydneysiders a ‘Happy Aloha Friday’.

The bustling business centre will receive a warm welcome from Aloha Apprentice Jamie Scroop and a beautiful cultural demonstration. Hula performances and a ukulele performance from American Idol contestant DeAndre Brackensick will complement a lei greeting - made from 500 fresh flowers - for lucky passers-by.

Hawaii Tourism launched their search for a stand-out Aloha Apprentice earlier in the month, as 7travel reported previously, to help promote the spirit of Aloha in Australia. Scroop was hand-picked out of 850 impressive applicants via Airtasker.

Scroop’s other exciting activities and experiences as Aloha Apprentice have included a Hi'uwai Ocean Healing Ceremony, Surf lesson with legendary Waikiki Beach Boy Ted Bush, a cooking lesson with beloved local chef Mark Pomanski, and so much more.
