Malaysia Festival Sydney returns for its 28th year bigger and better than ever! The annual celebration of Malaysian cuisine, culture, and tradition will take place in Tumbalong Park Sydney on the 1st-2nd of September, from 11am to 7pm (free admission). Festivities will kick off officially at 1pm on the 1st with an Opening Ceremony featuring a cultural performance spectacular.

Mfest 2018 will showcase Malaysian artists and acts, including:

  • Fusion Band - A Sydney local band combining the sweet sounds of traditional Malaysian instruments with the familiar beat of modern genres
  • Kathak Dance - Kathak is one of the most dynamic theatrical Dance forms in the world, known for its sparkling footwork, fast whirling movements and subtle abhinaya or mimetic dance
  • Rozita Rohaizad - her ability to weave between the genres of traditional to pop, dangdut to jazz produces an eloquently delightful style unique to none other than this renown Malaysian artist
  • Silat From Grasio - Silat is an umbrella term used to describe traditional martial arts from the Malay Archipelago background which will leave you on the edge of your seat with excitement and anticipation
  • Uts Kung Fu Club - The UTS Kung Fu Club will be sharing the raw beauty and power of Kung Fu

To add to the musical, dance, and other performances, Malaysian flavours will take centre stage. 17 Malaysian food stalls will serve the best of the bunch: chicken and beef satay (grilled skewers), vegetarian curry puffs, spring rolls and Malaysian-style fried chicken, varieties ranging between the classic main meals of nasi lemak, char kuey teow, down to snacks of pastries and milk teas, peanut pancake stuffed with a sugary, buttery peanut filling, Durians, and many more.
